Weekly Recap and Goals for 7/11/11

It was a good week.  When you make just one good choice it’s easier to make it again and again.  Deciding to change is the hard part.  Once you make up your mind it’s actually quite easy.  I loved that Marla posted, I was getting a little worried about you (jk).  I love that you are completely honest.  I believe that’s sometimes it’s good to step back and look at the big picture, by that I mean it’s good to see yourself living the life you want to live, but at the same time it can be so overwhelming.  I know that’s when I give up.  I can do so good and eat so healthy then let my mind think of doing it for the rest of my life and think that’s not possible.  Marla, you are totally right when you say we shouldn’t get overwhelmed by all of that.  It’s so much simpler when we just concentrate on making one good choice, just don’t have that second helping, skip dessert this one time, just go for a short walk with your family, or order something healthy.  It really is that simple!  And once you make one good choice it gets easier to make another.  I’m so happy to be able to say that I had a good week.  Not perfect, but good.  Seeing that week after week I was posting about what a failure I was I decided I would not have to do that this time.  And I stuck to it!  Most all of my meals were healthy.  I did just concentrate on eating 5, small, healthy meals a day.  I worked out 5 days (although one was hardly a workout).  I stuck to one serving of sugar, but need to work on eating less other stuff even if it is a healthier option (sugar free pudding etc.).  I didn’t stretch twice last week, only once.  It’s a silly goal, but I want to be able to do the splits again.   Still think I have lots of work to do in finding balance in my life, but I’m doing better.  Planning for the week also helped me, when I went to the birthday party I simply told myself that I already had my dessert for the week and I simply couldn’t have it.  I allowed myself to try it and because I had my mind made up that that’s what I was going to do, I was able to stick to it.   Because I had a good week I decided I would not care at all what the number on the scale was.  I know that I made healthy choices so my body would do whatever it needed to in order to take care of my little baby.  I was right, I gained 1 pound this week which  is exactly what it should be doing at this stage in pregnancy.  That puts me 46 pounds away from my goal.  And the highlight for the week was running the stairs at Old Main.  Let’s plan on doing it again this Thursday and Amanda it would be fun if you came too.  We got a great workout in and I was so proud of Marla.  She totally kicked my butt and I struggled to keep up with her, but we got a great workout in and it didn’t take long at all!  Loved it!  Love doing that to my body or should I say when my body does things like that for me?  I honestly crave workouts like that.
Goals for the week:
-Concentrate on eating  about 5 healthy meals a day
-Workout at least 5 days
-No more than 1 dessert (sugar)
-Stretch 2 x
-Find Balance
